Cellaris® develops, manufactures and markets unique ceramic foams capable of withstanding extremely high temperatures, up to 1750°C (3200°F). These non-fibrous, highly-porous, ultra-light ceramic products, registered under the trade name of Lite-Cell®, are produced by a special, proprietary and patented technology that is based on sol-gel chemistry. Cellaris® groundbreaking technology of manufacturing ceramic foams provides the next-generation platform for the multi-billion dollar market of high-temperature applications, including furnace insulation, kiln furniture, burner blocks, heating modules and much more. Other industrial uses include catalysis, filtration and avionic systems. Lite-Cell® is an ultra-light material, having a porosity of about 90%. Cellaris® technology allows the foaming of pure and mixed oxide materials. Foams that include alumina, silica, zirconia and titania have been made. The company manufactures foamed pellets, designed and adapted for different applications. These pellets are further compressed into standard and easily machined custom-shaped products. This scheme allows maximum flexibility for making Lite-Cell® products compatible with a wide spectrum of applications. The company has designed and built an industrial pilot plant in northern Israel, to prove the technology and set up industrial references. The pilot plant went into operation in 2005. Since then, Lite-Cell® has been in operation at many customer sites worldwide.
